From Overgrown to Outstanding: Planning & Planting a Perennial Garden
with Chad Donovan
10:00 - 11:30AM
$25
Every great garden starts with a vision — and sometimes, with a little demolition. Join us as we transform Red Wagon Plants’ display garden from an overgrown tangle into a fresh, vibrant space. We'll walk through the process of clearing out the old garden and designing a new layout from scratch. You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at Chad’s garden plan, from inspiration to execution, and see how a blank slate can become a thriving oasis. Participants are invited to ask questions, soak up expert advice, and possibly get their hands dirty. Whether you’re dreaming of revitalizing your own garden or just want to learn the art of thoughtful garden design, this workshop will leave you feeling inspired and ready to dig in.
Ecological Gardening: Stormwater and Pollinators
with Andrea Morgante
12:30 - 2:00PM
$25
How to Design, Build & Plant Garden Landscapes That Attract Pollinators & Wildlife, Absorb Water and Delight All the Senses. In 2024 Vermont saw some of its best designed private and public landscapes washed downstream. Yet others held fast as almost I-told-you-so examples. Andrea Morgante knows why. She’lll explain clearly how her designs and built landscapes in Addison and Chittenden Counties creatively address the art and hard science of stormwater. Lewis Creek Association’s “Ahead of the Storm” manual helps landowners address stormwater on properties of all sizes, and Andrea will show how to combine these strategies with the principles of landscape design. She operates Andrea Morgante Landscape Services from Hinesburg where she’s led and served in local government and several environmental nonprofits. Attendees may receive the manual free at the seminar or online at www.lewiscreek.org.
Queer Botany: Spring Ephemerals
with Kat Consler
2:30 - 4:00PM
$25
In this class, LGBTQIA+ folks and allies are invited to take a close look at plants around us through a queer lens. We’ll cover basic botany and participants are encouraged to explore the plants that are poking up through the ground in Spring. This is the most exciting time of the year, when the world around us goes from gray scale to full color again! Join this class to celebrate a new season starting and learn which queer plants to keep an eye out for in the next few weeks.
We look forward to seeing you!
